Cedarcrest Celebrates Resilience at 78th Annual Meeting

Cedarcrest gathered with community members, partners, and supporters on January 21, 2026, for its 78th Annual Meeting, an evening centered on reflection, recognition, and the resilience that continues to define the organization’s mission.

President and CEO Jay Hayston opened the program by welcoming guests in person and virtually, noting that while the Annual Meeting fulfills important governance responsibilities, it is also a moment to pause and celebrate the people and partnerships that make Cedarcrest’s work possible. Building on the theme of Resilience, he reflected on a year marked by significant progress amid ongoing challenges in the healthcare landscape, emphasizing the strength of Cedarcrest’s children, staff, leadership, and broader community .

Throughout the evening, key accomplishments from the past year were highlighted, including advances in clinical partnerships, staffing stability, and long-term planning initiatives that position the organization for the future. Hayston underscored investments in Cedarcrest’s workforce and care model as foundational steps toward ensuring long-term sustainability and exceptional care.

The meeting also recognized the essential role of governance and leadership. Board Chair Kevin Forrest led the annual business meeting, affirming the Board’s commitment to supporting Cedarcrest’s mission and strategic direction. The evening included recognition of retiring trustees Gina Burke, Victoria Prestejohn, and Kate Willbarger, whose service and dedication were honored with gratitude.

Cedarcrest formally welcomed new members to its Board of Trustees, acknowledging the expertise and perspective they bring as the organization looks ahead. The Board also recognized current trustees and members of the Advisory Council for their continued leadership and advocacy on behalf of the organization.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Cedarcrest Champion Awards, which honor individuals and organizations whose commitment strengthens the Cedarcrest community. The Individual Champion Award was presented to Pat Stoudt for her decades of service, advocacy, and community engagement. The Business Champion Award was awarded to Liberty Mutual in recognition of its longstanding partnership, volunteerism, and support of Cedarcrest programs and events .

The program also celebrated Cedarcrest staff through a series of employee spotlights and the presentation of the 13th Annual Margaret “Peg” Knox Scholarship, awarded to Maria Ranta and Hanisi Smith. The scholarship honors Peg Knox’s legacy of professional development and lifelong learning, recognizing staff members who demonstrate exceptional commitment to growth and excellence.

As the evening concluded, the discussion returned to the theme of resilience, acknowledging both the challenges ahead and the strong foundation Cedarcrest has built through intentional leadership, investment in people, and community partnership. He expressed gratitude to the children and families served by Cedarcrest, as well as to staff, board members, partners, and supporters whose trust and dedication continue to move the mission forward .

Cedarcrest enters 2026 with stability, strength, and a shared commitment to resilience—focused on delivering exceptional care today while preparing thoughtfully for the future.
